German invoice template generator (§14 UStG-compliant)
A German invoice is only deductible for the recipient if it contains every mandatory field of §14 (4) UStG: full addresses, tax number or VAT ID, a sequential invoice number, issue and service dates, amounts and tax rates. This free German invoice template generator produces exactly that in your browser — no signup, with the §19 small-business notice added automatically when no VAT ID is set.

Legal basis
This template includes all mandatory fields required by § 14 (4) UStG: full names and addresses, tax number / VAT ID, issue date, sequential invoice number, quantity and description of the service, service date, net amount per VAT rate, and VAT amount. For small businesses (§19 UStG) the VAT breakdown is replaced by an exemption notice.
Legal basis: § 14 UStG (mandatory invoice fields) and § 19 UStG (small-business VAT exemption). This generator produces a formally correct invoice but is not a substitute for tax advice. Structured B2B e-invoices (XRechnung / ZUGFeRD) require dedicated software.
All benchmarks and calculations are based on data available in 2026 and are not legally binding.
The mandatory fields under §14 (4) UStG
§14 (4) UStG lists what a German invoice must contain: full name and address of issuer and recipient, your tax number or VAT ID (USt-IdNr), the issue date, a sequential invoice number, quantity and description of the service, the service period (Leistungszeitraum), the net amount per tax rate, the applied tax rate and the VAT amount. If even one field is missing, your customer can lose the input-VAT deduction until you send a corrected invoice — so the checklist matters.
Common mistakes that invalidate invoices
The classics: missing or duplicated invoice numbers, a forgotten service date, no tax number, and the wrong VAT rate — 19 percent where 7 percent applies, for example. A missing recipient address is another frequent error. In each case the tax office can deny your customer's input-VAT deduction until a corrected invoice arrives. For corrections you send a Rechnungsberichtigung referencing the original number rather than reissuing the invoice. The generator checks the mandatory fields as you type and keeps invoice numbers sequential, so the formal side takes care of itself.
